eLab is an independent website that is not associated with your university's information systems. You may not sign in with your university's username and password. You must create an eLab account. To do so, please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to and click on the "Sign up now!" link below the login box.
  2. Fill out the My Account Information form (make sure to enter an active email account, as it will be your username).
  3. Click Continue when ready to create your account.
  4. To log in, go back to and enter your email address and password.
How do I gain access to a course that requires a license key? [Back to top]

You can access a course that requires a license key in three ways:

  1. Purchase a Labyrinth textbook with a license key bundled with the book.
  2. Purchase a license key that is separate from the book directly from Labyrinth.
  3. Obtain a license key from your school, if your school has purchased license keys from Labyrinth.
What are the minimum hardware requirements to take an eLab course? [Back to top]
  • Windows 2000/XP/Vista or Mac OS 10.3 or higher
  • Pentium class CPU or better with 256MB of RAM (1GB recommended)
  • CD-ROM drive (recommended)
  • 10GB hard drive or larger
  • 56 Kbps v.90 modem, but xDSL or cable modem is highly recommended

  • Minimum screen resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels

How do I log out from my course? [Back to top]

To log out of your course, you can either close your browser window or click the Log Out link located at the top-right corner of the course page.

I cannot watch windows media files on my Mac. [Back to top]

I am unable to view Word docs, Excel files, and PowerPoint slides. [Back to top]

You will need to download Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats (free) or purchase and install Microsoft Office 2007. This compatibility pack will let you open, edit, and save documents, workbooks, and presentations in the file formats new to Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007. I can't view the modules/lessons! What do I do? [Back to top]

There are two main issues that may hinder your computer's ability to view the course content.

  1. You may need to update your Adobe Flash Player to the latest version. Please click here click on Download Now
  2. You may need to clear your web browser's cache, which will significantly improve the speed and performance of your browser as well as stop it from loading out-of-date web pages or images. If you are experiencing difficulty viewing pages, click one of the links below to learn how to clear your browser's cache.

Clearing Cache on Microsoft ® Internet Explorer 6.0
  1. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
  2. Make sure you are in the General tab.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Click Delete Cookies (make sure that little box is checked).
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Close.
Clearing Cache on Microsoft ® Internet Explorer 7.0
  1. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
  2. Make sure you are in the General tab.
  3. Under Browsing History, click the Delete button.
  4. Click Delete All (in the Temporary Internet Files section).
  5. Click OK.
Clearing Cache on Firefox 2.0 / 3.0
  1. From the Tools menu, select Options.
  2. Click the Privacy icon.
  3. Click Clear Now in the Private Data area.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Exit and re-launch the browser.
Clering Cache on Netscape ® Communicator / Navigator 9.0
  1. From the Tools menu, select Options.
  2. Click Privacy.
  3. Under the Private Data section, click Clear Now.
  4. Check the Cache box and Clear Private Data Now.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Close and reopen your browser.

Macintosh Browsers

Clearing Cache on Safari 2.0 / 3.0
  1. From the Safari menu, select Empty Cache.
  2. When the pop-up window opens, click Empty.
Clearing Cache on Firefox 2.0 / 3.0
  1. From the Tools menu, select Clear Private Data.
  2. Check the Cache checkbox only.
  3. Click Clear Private Data Now.
When I click on Content nothing happens! What do I do? [Back to top]

When you click on one of the course links a pop-up window will appear. If your web browser is automatically blocking pop-ups then you will not see this pop-up window appear and you will assume the site is not functioning. To correct the problem, please either disable your web browser pop-up blocker or add to your safe site list.
